The Randleman Public Library was established in 1941 through the cooperative effort of a local committee and the Randolph County Library.  The first library was supported by gifts of money and books from the community and assisted by the county library.   From 1943-1957, primary funding came through the Randleman Lion's Club and the Randleman Women's Club.  In 1957, the City of Randleman assumed support of the library and it has continued to grow.  The present building was built in 1972-73 and was the first permanent home of the library.  Presently the library is undergoing an expansion program, both to the Ferguson Room and the children's area.

The Randleman Public Library has become an outreach center for the citizens of upper Randolph County, providing not only books, but a quality preschool children's program. This program is year round.  In the summer it is expanded to include school age children, offering programs that are fun as well as educational.  The library also has a very large video collection.  The collection is basically geared toward children and family entertainment.  Check out time is for one week.  Recently, a new CD-Rom collection has been added.  Patrons are allowed one CD per family.

Randleman Public Library has been an off campus site for the ongoing adult education classes sponsored by Randolph Community College for close to twenty years.  The Ferguson Room is available to the general public for meetings year round and its expansion will allow two meetings at the same time.

Recently, through cooperation with the Randolph County Library and a Smart Start grant the library has received an excellent collection of parenting and language books for our Spanish speaking population.
